Community messages on the big screen

What this is

We are testing whether community cinema can be a useful place for local councils, third sector organisations, community projects, public services, and local businesses to share messages with local people.

Because Smoovie works with community venues rather than commercial cinemas, we are much more interested in public announcements, local services and relevant local messages than national corporate advertising.

Still in trial

This is still early stage, so we are testing demand, seeing how audiences respond, and working out what the right model should be. While we do that, we are offering affordable video creation and free pre-show space at some of our screenings to learn what works.

Why we like the idea

If it works well, this could help venues earn a bit of extra income, help keep Smoovie affordable, create opportunities for local filmmakers, and make the pre-show feel more connected to the place and people in the room.
