Terms & Conditions
Smoovie enables local venues to host community cinema screenings with a simple, reliable stack: checkout, automated venue pages, resilient playout, and clear monthly settlements — all designed to make screenings practical, sustainable, and audience-friendly.
Seller of Record
Smoovie is the Seller of Record for tickets sold through smoovie.uk. We collect payment at checkout, then settle proceeds to venues and distribution partners under agreed terms. This ensures filmmakers and cinema managers are paid promptly and transparently.
Payment Flow
When a customer purchases a ticket or add-on through our platform, Smoovie processes the payment, deducts standard payment handling and a reasonable platform/service fee, allocates the agreed share to rights holders, and pays the venue the balance. The structure is intended to be fair for venues, generous to creators, and sustainable for ongoing programming.
Booking from Smoovie’s curated programme removes upfront licence risk for venues and unlocks benefits like:
- Repeatable screenings without re-negotiating individual licences.
- Pre-show tools for local advertising and community messages.
- A varied slate of new releases, independents, family titles, and culture docs.
For titles sourced outside Smoovie’s programme, venues remain responsible for obtaining and paying for any external licences directly with the rights holder.
Cancellations & Refunds
Customer-initiated cancellations or refunds are not currently supported in-app. If a screening is cancelled, tickets may be transferred to a new date or refunded by the venue. Venues are responsible for communicating any schedule changes to their audience.
Rights Holder Settlements
Distributors and filmmakers who license work via Smoovie are paid under pre-agreed terms. Shares are calculated automatically and remitted as part of our monthly cycle, keeping cashflow dependable and admin light for all parties.
Transparency & Compliance
Venues receive clear monthly statements showing sales, fees, rights allocations, and net payouts. Smoovie issues any required tax documentation for its fees. Our goal is simple: accurate reporting, timely settlements, and a process that’s easy to audit.
Questions & Contact
For questions about a specific screening (times, access, facilities), please contact the venue listed on your ticket. If you’re having trouble purchasing through our checkout, we’re happy to help.
Smoovie exists to help independent venues bring cinema to their communities — with a model that’s fair, generous, and sustainable for venues and rights holders alike.
