How Smoovie works
Screen new release independent films in your venue without licensing admin, complicated cinema tech, or relying on internet on the night.
The simple version
Everything you need to run cinema screenings as part of a wider programme.
1) Book like a cinema
Choose from the current programme and schedule screenings without paperwork or chasing rights holders.
2) Download and play offline
Films arrive inside the Smoovie Player on your Windows laptop and run offline on the night.
3) Ticketing and reporting handled
Tickets, reporting, and payouts are handled centrally so venues can focus on hosting a great film experience.
Step by step
A typical screening from start to finish.
1. Log in to your Smoovie venue dashboard.
2. Pick a film from the programme and set your screening date and time.
3. Download through the Smoovie Player ahead of the screening.
4. Promote it in your usual way using posters, listings, socials, and newsletters.
5. On the night, connect your laptop to your projector and sound system, then press play.
6. Smoovie handles licensing, reporting, and rights holder payouts in the background.

Costs
Free to join, with a simple fee on ticket sales.
Free to join. There is currently no subscription fee.
We charge a combined 10% booking and transaction fee on ticket sales. This is higher than some ticketing platforms, but Smoovie is not just payments and a checkout. We provide the film programme, licensing admin, playout software, marketing tools, reporting, and hands on support.
We work with rights holders to secure strong terms for our network, while ensuring filmmakers are well compensated for their work.
FAQ
Quick answers to common questions.
Do we need internet on the night?
No. Download beforehand and the screening runs offline.
Can we sell tickets on the door?
Yes. You can sell tickets online and in person, and scan tickets if you want to.
Can we use our own ticketing?
Ticketing needs to go through Smoovie so reporting and rights handling works properly. You can still use your own setup for snacks and drinks.
